On Wisconsin

Oh Wisconsin, you are incredibly gorgeous.
I was so happy to have time to spend with my mom over break. Wisconsin and I have fallen in love and how could I not? Look how beautiful Lake Onalaska is above.

My mom and I share a desire for 'big' things. Luckily Wisconsin did not disappoint! Here we are in front of a big fish.

Later I took a 'big' run-- 4 miles on the Great River Trail that borders the Mississippi River and the state line between Wisconsin and Minnesota. Even though I was bundled up, it was hard to push through the last mile in the 20 degree cold!

Splits:
Mile 1: 9:29
Mile 2: 9:40
Mile 3: 9:36
Mile 4: 10:36
Afterwards I went to my first Wisconsin Friday Fish Fry and refueled with some quality food. The claim to fame of this particular place was their intimidating HUGE dinner rolls! So delicious.
Finally, I finished off my Wisconsin adventure by visiting the Worlds Largest Six-Pack of Beer! It is actually completely full of casks of beer, over 7 million cans of it. It's also humongous, you can see me on the ground to the right of the sign.

Oh Wisconsin, I hope to see you again soon!

Freak weather

Yesterday I took advantage of the wild 60 degree weather and took off for a run.

In the height of half-marathon training, I was running 20-25 miles per week. Now that I'm in the off-season, I'm running less but enjoying it more.

This was a great run and only a little rough after a weekend of football, fun, and no exercise. :)

Splits:

Mile 1: 9:38
Mile 2: 9:32
Mile 3: 9:26

Negative splits, baby!

I also ran the last chunk of the loop (unpictured, ~0.37mi) at a 10:00/mile pace. Unfortunately my watch crapped out and got stuck on 18:51 when I was at a stop light, bringing my average down.

Overall a great run! Looking forward to my next race!
